Wedgwood Basalt Encaustic Vase c. 1800
Sunday, January 31st, 2010The Wedgwood vase stands 9¾” tall and is 5½” in diameter at its widest point. The vase dates from between 1800 and 1810. The encaustic decoration of three classical figures is complete. The vase is marked with an impressed “WEDGWOOD”, moustache marks, the letter ”J”. and incised with the number “439”. The vase sold for $1,850 in January 2010.
