ROYAL DOULTON Chang Flambe Large Urn Signed Charles J. Noke & Harry Nixon in Mint Condition sold for $11,500 in August 2009.

This piece demonstrates the molten effect of the heavy layers of glazes flowing, the great colors of the various metallic compounds mixed in these glazes and the crackling effect desired in the cooling down of this heavy glaze. The reds, greens, blues, purples, yellows and whites all flowing here and there. Because of the complexity of the firing (all done in the days of coal firing) in getting the various glazes to flow and melt together there were few produced.

Size: 10″ tall x 8″ in diameter

Mark & Date: This has the Post 1932 Doulton Backstamp with Flambé painted out. It also has the Chang mark painted on along with the monogram of C.J. Noke and Harry Nixon.
