Rene Buthaud Art Deco Pottery Vase
Friday, March 12th, 2010Rene Buthaud (French, 1886-1986) Art Deco Vase. Monogram signature. Measures 10 inches high, by approximately 6 inches wide sold for $2500 in February 2010. The signature is a hand painted RB. Rene Buthaud was one of the leading lights of those artists who incorporated the colours, motifs and figures of African art into his ceramics. He was a great influence on Paul Scheurich, an artist producing figures for Meissen in the 1930s.
