Marblehead Pottery Mark

Marblehead Pottery (1904-1936) opened with the objective of helping sanitarium patients convalesce through creating ceramics.  Arthur Baggs joined Marblehead Pottery in ~1905. His decorating style was hand-incised, etched or surface painted geometric designs on grounds of slightly contrasting colors. In 1915 Baggs purchased Marblehead Pottery.  The production art pottery Marblehead produced was finely thrown and glazed in hard, pebbled matte finishes.   Glaze colors are blue, green, pink, yellow, brown or gray.  Marblehead’s max employment was six people.
