Have you heard of WWOOF?
Living in Boulder Colorado area, my family recognizes the power and value of WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). WWOOF has an important role helping people understand the intricate relationship between food and the environment and giving people an opportunity to volunteer on organic farms.
But what does WWOOF do? The organization connects eco-minded people who want to volunteer on organic farms with organic farmers who are looking for volunteer help. In return for volunteering, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic lifestyles. WWOOF is a worldwide organization with global impact. They provide opportunities for volunteers who want to see the world while making a positive contribution to changing it. (Some countries require work visas, American Visa, or tourist visas while some do not require anything since the work is volunteer based. In the end, the big winner is the environment.)
WWOOF is recognized as having an important contribution to make in the wider organic world as it brings more and more people into direct contact with organic growers both independently and through other organizations who are trying to influence policy and consumer demand. Through its newsletters WWOOF organizations inform their members of organic news, views, jobs and training.
Definitely take a moment and check them out. Donations of time and money are welcome!
