Direct Satellite TV - the choice is yours Chicago Fans!

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

As my loyal readers know, I moved from Chicago to Colorado a few years ago.   What do I miss most?  The Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Portillos.  Oh - and my family and friends - sorry guys.

The Bears have been disappointing so far this year, while Kyle Orton has been rocking the Broncos.  The best news is that I have a front row seat because of Direct TV.  Even better, because I have DirectTV I get to watch any football game that I want all day.  It’s like Thanksgiving every week!  And if my wife makes me run to the store, I can still check the scores using my cell phone and Superfan.   Now … if only I had some Portillos!

But how do you figure out what Satellite Directv to order? MyTVOptions.com has a very cool website where you can make selections based on what’s most important to you.  Is it HD? Sports?  Movies? DVR? Local channels? International?  Depending on your needs,  MyTVOptions.com chooses the best Direct TV service for you.  And it only takes a second.

When renovating your Craftsman Home, consider underfloor heating

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Whether you are building a new craftsman home or renovating a historical bungalow you’ll have a lot of options.   Underfloor heating is an economical and environmentally smart solution. It is less expensive and better for the environment because it uses less fuel. One of the downsides of using traditional flooring (wood, granite, limestone, marble) is that your feet freeze in the winter.  But with underfloor heating, your feet stay warm while you appreciate the aesthetics of natural materials.  Another bonus is that your dogs and cats won’t be huddling with you in bed.  They will be warm, where they belong (on the floor).

Those who suffer from allergies also benefit from using underfloor heating systems; because it does not affect the air quality and it will not circulate foreign air particles (dust) around the room. Furthermore, as you are running your underfloor heater at a lower temperature you can expect 20% savings on your monthly heating bills.

If you are considering this option check out Floor Heating Online. They are  specialist in underfloor heating and one of the leading underfloor heating companies in the UK, with a wide range of products and accessories. The company supplies cost effective underfloor heaters, floor insulation and heating mats for your home.  There’s lots to consider, so make sure you check out the many options including: Water Underfloor Heating, Electric Underfloor Heating, Laminate Underfloor Heating, Tiled Underfloor Heating, Bathroom Underfloor Heating, Conservatory Underfloor Heating, Carpet Underfloor Heating, Screed Floors, and Solar Heating.

Have you heard of WWOOF?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Living in Boulder Colorado area, my family recognizes the power and value of WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms).  WWOOF has an important role helping people understand the intricate relationship between food and the environment and giving people an opportunity to volunteer on organic farms.

But what does WWOOF do?  The organization connects eco-minded people who want to volunteer on organic farms with organic farmers who are looking for volunteer help. In return for volunteering, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic lifestyles.   WWOOF is a worldwide organization with global impact.  They provide opportunities for volunteers who want to see the world while making a positive contribution to changing it.   (Some countries require work visas, American Visa, or tourist visas while some do not require anything since the work is volunteer based. In the end, the big winner is the environment.)

WWOOF is recognized as having an important contribution to make in the wider organic world as it brings more and more people into direct contact with organic growers both independently and through other organizations who are trying to influence policy and consumer demand. Through its newsletters WWOOF organizations inform their members of organic news, views, jobs and training.

Definitely take a moment and check them out.  Donations of time and money are welcome!
