Van Briggle Bat Vase sold on ebay for $2700


I’ve been looking for a Van Briggle Bat Vase for years … and then a 1916 mulberry version finally came up for auction on ebay.  In case you are wondering  - I didn’t win :(

The 11″ vase sold for $2700 after 14 bids.  $2700 is a fair price, which just goes to show that a rare piece of pottery will almost always fetch a good price  … even in a recession.  I included the 1916 VanBriggle Mark.

I’ll be waiting for the next bat vase … maybe for years!

    I found one of these at a local thrift store and sold it on Ebay back in October 1999, and it sold for $3400, so I guess the recession has dropped the price slightly. They are VERY hard to find. Mine was also a 1916 in Mulberry color.

    Definately my best find! Haven’t found anything that cool since.It was out with old Halloween decorations if you can believe that! :)
