Walter B. Stephen (1876 - 1961) traveled west in a covered wagon as a young boy. He lived in a sod home near the Sioux Indians, NE where her met Wild Bill Cody. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, Stephen and his mother began Nonconnah, near Memphis, TN in ~1904. Stephen operated a second Nonconnah pottery in NC before establishing Pisgah Forest Pottery in 1926. His pieces can easily fetch 5 figures.
