Newcomb College Pottery Operated from 1895-1930’s and is one of the most sought after pottery collectibles.

This mark has the following marks:

  • NC for Newcomb college
  • HB forthe decorator Henrietta Davidson Bailey
  • M for the potter Joseph Meyer

  • B for buff clay body

    Was there an artist with intitials JM at Newcomb College as well? I have a Newcomb Collage vase with RB37 and with what looks like JM (J and M connected) intials. There is also 19 pressed on the bottom of the vase.

    f you see a JM mark on the pottery, the Potter was Joseph Meyer. Joseph Meyer “could throw a fine piece of work faster than any man living” said Paul Cox, also a potter at Newcomb. Meyer created classical shapes which formed a canvas for Newcomb’s very talented decorators.
